Blog Post 12 (Specialty Assignment)

This particular assignment required that the students create an assignment, pertaining to their specialty area, that should have been implemented in EDM 310. My specialty area is Health Education. Oftentimes, when I tell someone I attend the University of South Alabama and my major is Health Education I get some very interesting questions.

Examples

1. "Are you going to be a P.E. Teacher or something?"

2. "Is that some type of medical or doctor related profession?"

3. "What can you do with a Health Education degree?"

The assignment I created involves finding a technology based learning tool that presents information that helps the public to become more knowledgeable about the Health Education profession. The information should show or explain the contributions that Health Educators/Specialists make in society. The information should also show the type of work that Health Educators/Specialist do and where they can be found. I think this is a good project for Health Ed. majors because the questions I referred to I do not get them all from the average "John Doe" or "Jane Doe". I get some of them from highly educated professionals. I personally find that kind of disturbing because Health is all around us! View the You Tube video I found as an example.
